Anyways my question is does anyone have the .280 Rem and are they happy with the caliber? What is the Ballistic performance out to say 400yds. The reloading manuals I have only show muzzle.
I do reload so ammo price is not a concern for me and I have checked online and seen that the brass is right around the same price as as the .270 Win.

Thanks in advance for your help,

The wsm's are just too much for the Encore frame, and are a handloading proposition only. I know of a couple guys shooting factory loaded 300 wsm in it, but it wasn't designed to handle that larger casehead. Increased trust will stretch the frame eventually.
The 280 is an excellent round!!!!
If you are looking for a custom barrel at a reasonable price for a 270 Wby. I been hearing the guys that bought out Harry McGowen do a good job, and they may be able to set you up in that chambering. McGowen Precision Barrels, LLC Home
Personally I use another barrel maker, but I expect the best accuracy possible, and pay for it. This guy's only draw back is he don't do tapers, but instead "step downs". Although, if you sent him a tapered blank, he would chamber it for you no problem.
