Classic example of bad internet info

This is copied from the following site:

Czech Pistols

As far as I can tell, they're totally full of it. The CZ50 and 70 hammers are exposed, not shrouded; they're DA/SA, not double action only; I doubt the materials in the CZ 50 are inferior to the CZ 70 since many of them are simply refurbished CZ 50's; etc.

If the Czech military "solidly rejected" the CZ 50 in favor of the CZ 52, you think it might have been because of the caliber, not the quality? Not many armed forces issue their troops .32 ACP handguns nowadays...

CZ-50/CZ-70

Notes: Based on the Walther PP and PPK, the CZ-50 is the primary pistol of the Czech State Police and Internal Security Forces. It is a compact weapon with rounded surfaces and a shrouded hammer for quick draws from pockets and under clothes. The CZ-50 is a double-action-only weapon; it cannot be fired in the single –action mode, where the hammer is cocked before drawing the trigger. Unfortunately, the CZ-50’s safety tends to slip internally, making the weapon sometimes safe when it is set on fire and unsafe when set on safe. In addition, the CZ-50 is made of inferior materials and trigger draw can be creepy. The Czech Army solidly rejected this design in favor of the CZ-52, and today it is only found in the hands of police and security forces. The CZ-70 is a newer version, built of newer materials and addressing the reliability problems of the CZ-70. It replaced the CZ-50, but production ceased in 1983.

Seems the feller got his wires crossed on the CZ 83 too, which surely he meant the CZ82.
The CZ 82 is the military/police and the CZ 83 is the civilian model and is still sold today.
troy does the guys giberrish have any merit ??? I see your still up to LOL. A.H

Troy2000, you didn't do your research....
I cut this from the Website...
"No, this is for a role-playing game called Twilight 2000. It is set during and after World War 3. I have no interest or capability of getting such things. Yours is a common mistake by people who look at one or two pages and don't look at anything else on the site.'

Wink

Roll-playing game info on guns, vehicles, etc is notoriously inaccurate. I've seen these things for twenty years. Keep in mind, they are written by geeks for geeks. They know little about guns.

Mea culpa, Rich. It was late and I was on my way to bed when I stumbled over it.

But the fool believes he's giving accurate descriptions, as opposed to making them up for the game. This is shown by comments on some of the others farther down saying, "this weapon doesn't exist in Twilight 2000," or "this weapon doesn't exist in real life," etc.

Yeah Buddy,
I read some more weapon descritions and the "Gamers language" was in there, so I went to the start page and there in FAQ was the explanation...

Odd. I just went back and looked, and I can't find a start page or any other link when it comes up on my screen.

Heh heh...not in my gaming group. We make alterations to existing rules on modern firearms all the time when we don't think a game got it right.

Talking

Sounds like my old AD&D group from the Navy. The books were only 'guidelines', and were 'updated' as necessary! It got me into bladed weapon collecting, which morphed into guns . . . Good times!

Sometimes, looking back in history can really help. In Starfleet Battles, my space-going version of the USS Iowa beat those nasty Klingons everytime!
Nine Plasma Torps will flat-out FRY a D7 Battlecruiser . . .

Troy, if you go to the address bar and backspace till the addy read's www.pmulcahys.com and then enter it go's to a home page. looks like nerds "playing" guns. but yeah when I first read it I thought the boy had smoked his breakfast also. I however did like the idea of the them going for $97 to $99, at that price I would have more than just one.

Yeah, my stepson used to have a driving game stating that it was based on "real-world stats". When he asked me if it was accurate, I had to tell him that DeTomaso never produced a Pantera with an 800 hp. engine. A friend in San Antonio had a big-block (429) Pantera that was a bad-a**, but it wasn't any 800 hp.

I'm slow but I get there sometimes anyway, Tex. I just spent two and a half hours driving back to work, and realized on the way that I could do what you suggested. Maybe I need to spend a little less time on the run, and a little more time thinking.

Thanks for the input; if I hadn't had the mental down time on the highway to mull it over, I might not have gotten there on my own.

Reminds me of a quote from Howland Owl in the old Pogo strips: "HOW kin I be so stupid, when I's so smart?"
