| Member | Can i remove a barrel from a model 25 The rear sight on my marlin broke, and it looks shitty, i want to remove the barrel and hook it to a lathe, then reblue it. Can i remove it? I could work with it on the gun, but i dont want to damage any other parts and have to repair those. this is what i have so far. Used a dremel and sand paper. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Is there anyway i can fill the little holes and gaps and still have a smoothe blued outcome? Well i feel like a douche bag, i ruined my blueing for nothing. Those things just popped out! But can i fill this big ole gap? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by jamesw; 12-21-2007 at 01:03 AM. | Moderator ![]() | Marlin .22 rifle barrels have a pin that can be driven out (look below the barrel just in front of the receiver ring), and the barrel is s clamped in a vise - the receiver is then CAREFULLY tapped off it. It's a tight slip fit. For a simple reblue and dovetail filling, this isn't necessary though.

| Senior Member ![]() | I dont know why they dont include a dremel, pack of sand paper, pipe wrench, vicegrips, large screwdriver, and healthy size hammer with all firearms so it would be more convienent and people would have the proper tools to mess their own guns up before going to a gunsmith. This would only be necessary for the ones that have absolutely no knowledge or idea of what they are doing and plenty of money to replace the firearm they screwed up trying to save a few dollars. You can take that blueing and metal off,but you cant put it back and make it look right. Now you can punch that pin out, remove the barrel, and never get it back on.After that you can find a new gun to replace that one. Most gunsmiths would have given an estimate free of charge.Nice pictures, thank you. sam.
