M1 carbune help

Hello im new to the forum and M1 carbins.The problem im having is i foun a ner mint M1 carbine for $300.Its a Universal.im not loocking for a culecter just a nice littl gun to shoot and have sum fun with.I just wont to know if it werth the $300 and if it a good quolity gun than you in advast.

$300 is a good deal.I sold 3 for $400.00 each.I will buy it for 300 if you do not.BOB

Trigun, there has been alot of variations of quality in Universal Carbines.The lower ones, 5 digit serials and lower, are usually good. Ones that were made later(2nd and 3rd generations) had less and less GI parts, and more prone to having problems. The 3rd generation gun, with double recoil springs, gave people alot of grief. If you are not going to shoot alot, it may be a fair deal, but then you may end up with some problems too.

I had a double spring Universal and the only problem I ever had with it was when I filed the sear to lighten the trigger pull; well that worked well...a little too well.When I took it to the range I got a string of three or four shots with one squeeze of the trigger...Oop! Put that bear back into my trunk before anyone realized what had happened. Universal is not conventionalbut it is a good little carbine; for $300 it's a bargain. I'd take it.
