| Winchesters that arn't
Anyone else have something like this? I have a Win. mod 70 in the old xtr grade and in .223 and the barrel is marked sporter varmit (my spelling may be off) I talked with one of the Win. reps. and asked about this gun and he said there was no such thing but that someone at the factory had marked them that way for about 6 months.(in the 80's) anyone heard of this? The rifle has sporter weight barrel and full size action, jewelled bolt, nice wood and finish, and nice blue. |

My blue Book lists the Model 70 Varmit from 1964-1993 and has Has an "XTR" suffix from 1978-1989... Also listed is a Model 70 HBV Heavy Barrel Varmit built later 1993-1999... Rich
