I have a ohio state patrol .357 magnum 50th anniversary edition. I am looking for an approx. value of this gun

The Model 117 Security six Ruger was made in Special Editions for various Police Agencies. The Most Well Known was 500 Made for the Calif. Highway Patrol during 1983. If the gun is New In Box...Value will run from 350.00 to Maybe as much as 450.00 depending how bad somebody wants it...If it is Used, some wear, Value is 50% of the above Quotes.

To my knowledge, the OSP never carried the Ruger Security Six. Ruger may have made a commemorative but I am sort of picky in my belief that if you are going to make a commemorative, it should have a true relationship with the person, organization or event that it commemorates. That's to say for instance a John Wayne Mdl 94 or Colt peacemaker, or even an M16 would be OK but a John Wayne 10-22 or M9 would just be crass commercialism.

The OPS commemorative to have would be I believe the S&W Mdl. 19 that was issued in the late 70s. I don't remember what anniversary it honored but they made one for each OSP officer and the SN was their badge #. The officer was given first chance to buy each gun. I saw one soon after they were issued, in a trophy case, at the OSP academy in Columbus.
