Squirrels are tough little guys!

We shot a squirrel today, and when we cleaned it, 2 bb's fell out, and my friend bit one while eating the meat.

We shot her with a .22, but this gal survivied 3 bb shots, what a soldier!

We threw it on the grill, added some seasoning, and it was the best squirrel i have tasted!

Thumbs up

On the otherhand, I've killed the treerats and found only one Number Six pellet to have hit him - in the punkin' head! It's all about "Shot Placement"!

I love them cooked in gravy and served over rice!

I stuck one with an arrow deer hunting once, it twisted off the shaft it was stuck in the ground with and ran off.

I like 'em on the grill.

had the stepson sit out for squirels today. He came back in and said that the sights were off. I told him to watch his sister and 7 month old brother, five minutes later brought back a squirel. He decided the gun was fine, lol.

Squirrels can be amazingly tough sometimes. Other times, they drop easy. Using a .17HMR or .223 helps though.

Tree Rats

Once in Columbus, my brother and I set 5 No. 2 leghold traps in his back yard under the bird feeder. We caught 4 in 10 minutes with the traps being big enought to kill them outright. We parboiled them in an iron skillet.
(He used the traps in his attic to remove the squirrels there also.)

I don't worry about eating the ground squirrels here. Dirty little things. Anyways, a buddy of mine shot a ground squirrel at about 35-40 yards with an 03-A3 loaded with .22 caliber sabot round. That was probably the messiest one I've ever seen.

two-70,I like a modified choke when the leaves are on and a full choke in the open woods.I haven't hunted with a shotgun for years, but I used to love blowing them out of the trees with one.May have to get my scatter gun out for an up-coming hunt.

I like to hunt the early season when the leaves are still on the trees and just at first light you can barely make out the silowette of a squirrel way up and when you shoot it comes crashing down , sounds like a ton of bricks falling. I also like hunting them from a tree stand. Sometime when you shoot they don't know which way to run. I got two big ole reds they way last year.
