I don't think were doing as well as the coyotes though. Problem is, most of the state land we hunt rabbits on, high powers are restricted. So, we have to break out the shotguns and load our pockets up with buck for them. Pic#2 is classic tortise& hare, LOL My buddies hound brought this back, as well as the rabbit. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f..._banner_07.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...rtise_hare.jpg |

Congrats Jerry.Sometimes its not how heavy the game bag is,but rather how your time was spent. You did better than I did today,I went squirrel hunting and although I saw three I was not able to get a rifle shot off. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I do A.H.,in fact I eat both Leather backs(softshells)and Snappers.Years ago my uncle and I used to noodle for them.Seems like I always got stuck carrying the bag.I prefer to catch them on a line with a treble hook and a chunk of meat, on both limb lines as well as handlines. They are sure great eating.

| Over/Under Combo
Webs, Yes, the combo I have, a Remmington SPR94 .410/.22LR, is scoped. My eyes are old eyes, and for the .22 I need a scope nowadays. Fortunately, the shotgun patterns dead center of the scope, so there's no Kentucky Windage required. As mentioned, the shotgun is .410, not a bad thing. I have successfully hunted squirrel many times in the past with a NEF single shot .410, so I know the capabilities of the .410. That being said, I would have, however, preferred the gun in 20ga/.22LR, but Remmingtion no longer offers that configuration. Savage does, but one needs a rich uncle to help buy one and a small boy to help carry it. Thus, I opted for the Remmington. In the early season I frequently use a NEF single shot 20ga, which I love. Next year I think I am going to be in a real dilemma when it comes to which gun to grab when heading out, the Remmington or the NEF.

turtles are great eating, never ate leather back's though, only snapper. I just put out a couple of lines tied to milk jugs. the lines are tied to big hooks, with a chunk of meat, um, not always beef. Ya put those jugs out on a pond or small lake, and just watch for them to move differant from the wind. Sometimes there is a snapper, sometimes what ever it was lets go.

hey jerry do yall pound the bush for them rabbits. another easier way to set lines for turtles and big cats are to run a 5-6 foot nilon rope with a treble or single hook with fish head and the remains from earlier in the day and leave them over night tied to a large underwater tree or brush up close to the shore that can hold the tension of the creater that snatches it. |
