What is the best combo weapons for survival?

I have considered this question for a number of years and I have to say that a .22LR the best round for a survival situation. Most game in North America can be killed with a .22LR. I think a Ruger single six stainless steel hunter in a .22LR/.22WMR is the best pistol(scope mounts, good sights, minimum parts, etc.). You can kill deer with it if needed. The best rifle ... hhhmm.. I would have the say a stainless T/C G2 with a super 16" .223 barrel with iron sights and scoped with a good low powered variable scope in the 1-5 power range. You can buy inserts for it to shoot .22LRs and .22WMRs.(3 rounds from one barrel.. sweet deal) The G2 is the simplest of simple to work on (so no parts to lose). It is super light weight and easy to store. I have killed dozens of deer sized game with a .223. So a Ruger single six hunter(.22LR/.22WMR) and a T/C G2 in .223 is my choice. What is your opinion?

Sounds like a decent set up to me. I think though that an ideal set up would be a .22 lr rifle for hunting small game and a center fire sidearm for defense against animals of the two and four legged species. 9mm-.357magnum.

I have alway said a 22lr would be your best survival choice how many other rifles can you easily carry over 500 rounds in a small backpack? on that note I got a buddy that prifers a .410 shotgun he carrys regular birdshot and some 3inch slugs that he could take a larger game animal in a pinch. the main thing is use something you know how to work well and stock up on ammo and a spareparts kit.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a pistol and same caliber carbine. Such as a .357 mag revolver and a lever action of the same cal, or if your into auto loaders, a 9mm combo.

I believe that a M1A (7.62 NATO) with a collapsable sage stock would do with either a 22Lr Pistol or 45 ACP 1911.
