Depends on the means of transmission. If it is an airborne contageon and I was in a location where avoiding infection was impossible, I'd probably shoot myself before I become infected.

If it was bloodborne and transmittable through bite, blood xfer, saliva, etc... I would make a quickie stop at Wal Mart across the street with my M4 and take what I need, get in my car & drive till I couldn't anymore in the direction of the lowest populated area and begin construction on an underground bunker.

Though, I am on the fence about whether I would take residence in a high-story office or residence building on an upper floor, perhaps take residence in the top 4 or 5 floors so as to give myself some room if I get overrun, set booby traps leading upstairs so if I have to break for it to the upper floors, they will get caught in traps following me, barricade the stairs and cut the elevator controls, and wait till they started to die off before I would try an escape.

Making a wall of windchimes and light bulbs covering the stairs in the lower stairwells would offer an audible notice of any approaching critters/nasties from below. Also could use baby monitors or taped two-way radios from lower floors to help detect any approaching danger. Homemade explosives and such would come in handy. A large caliber handgun would be strapped to my side at all times. A S&W .500 or Grizzly .50 or Desert Eagle or something.

Daily trips to the roof with my 24" Bushmaster rifle and 10-40x scope would be made to pick off any nasties I see down on the street.

I live in an area with well over 3.5 million people. So, escape during the initial onset and panic may not be a good idea. Hunkering down and waiting it out may be best. Would be best to wait it out where you are, find some night vision goggles and make your way to a more secure location at night. Tactical, swift and quiet movement would be called for. Even on foot, I could be to one of those high-rise buildings in 2-5 hours. I would probably make use of a bike, however. Trips for supplies would be needed occassionally for canned goods, MRE's from surplus stores, ammo, cleaning supplies for weapons, power sources (baterries), etc... Best done at early evening/dusk. Get some dogs and young puppies from any of the select pet shops or shelters around. Use them to also help hear and shield yourself from any mindless zombies.

I would take to the mountains. To an old abandoned hunting camp I have been in. Just hope that there are no Deliverence zombies. Up there I can live for a great deal of time without ever seeing another soul, unless zombies like to ride in 4wheel drives.

crank up some MOTORHEAD so the zombies will start coming .
and kill every zombie in my valley.

Load up your guns and ammo, and let's go to town. We'll make 'em wish they stayed 6 feet under!

Well first I would say "I'll be damned grandmaw was right".
And then I woud begin the loading and looting process.Going from store to store stocking up on ammo, food, hardware, whatever else. Then I would move as far away from all the major areas of contamination depending on the the transmission of the disease(airborne, contact etc except if it was airborne I would be screwed and i would make a poor attempt at keeping it out of my system with gas and surgical masks. I would move for rhe tallest least accessible building possible surounded with a barbed wire barricade to keep the zombie bastards at bay.

Load up all the guns and go to town! lol I'd have to because I don't have enough on hand ammo to last much longer than it would take to get to wally world and loot their sport'n goods section. Once there, I fill a buggy with shotguns, shells, .30-06, and 7.62x39. Of course I'd have to bring along a brother or friend to push the buggy while I blow zombies to kibbles and bits! We stop by a gas station on the way home and get some extra fuel(all the while one of us is wacking zombies with an SKS, AR-15, or Shotgun). get home, barricade the house and make sure its suitably defended, then make the rounds and see how many of my friends got infected. Kill the infected ones, and round up the uninfected and bring them back to my place. It's big enough to hold them all.

Are you all serious?

Anyways, I'd take the top off the Bronco, put her in 4 wheel hi, get my buddies and guns and go stock up on guns and ammo. Then I'd take off into the mountains and wait it out.

We already have this planned. We'd go to one of the islands off of Miami. The island has its own fresh water source and a good amount of woods. As for weapons, we'd have the standard shotguns, AK's and pistols, in addition we'd also have my sword collection and bows. The island has a 6' sea wall all the way around it so the zombies couldn't simply walk out of the water.

Talking

KGunner - some of us are simply more "proactive" than those who simply hunker down. Worked for the Israelis . . .

I'm out for me I suppose in that situation. I would save Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel to repopulate the earth with me, but the rest of you are on your own! I'd probably wait a while up in the mountains and then go down to town.
