Winchester Ranger 165gr SXT® Talon.

That's what I carry everyday in my G27 and what the local Sheriff's Department uses.

It also comes in 155gr and 180gr.

Yes, I am a "normal" civilian.

That is a Winchester policy to not sell it to civies. With the rationale that they want the LEO's to get first pick at their best premium ammo to give them an edge... or some crap like that. There's nothing illegal about using ammo that says "LE-Only" on it. (unless you have a local/state law specifically outlawing hollow-points or LE-Only ammo)

I bought a case of 500 rounds from a gentleman over on the glocktalk forums for $175 shipped, just before there was to be an increase in price.

Remington golden sabers bonded are that Ive been using they fly nice and should pack a punch, they have a nice deep hollow point too.

Ad far as using re-loads for defense horrible idea. 2 reasons, Reloads can be testy and thats all you need is a squib load when someone is baring down on you.

Also and most importantly, when your in a civil battle over the man you just killed, even though he was trying to kill you, when the lawyer holds up the casing and says,"these were reloads that this man put together himself in his basement using his own homemade powder with his military equipment blah blah blah blah blah(no matter what of it is true you cannot hope you get 12 people that know about guns and reloading. You will probably end up with 12 gun haters. Any way you have just made a bullet that was designed for killing.

They are going to say you tinkered to find a round that would not stop the threat but kill a man, Your toast.

From an Air Force Cop to a LE guy... good to know ya. The .40 is a sweet round and great at 1-shot stops. I'm a Sig P229 Equinox carrying guy in .40 and would not trade it for the world. Simply put, in my opinion (and subjective, obviously) the .40 is the best out there.

I also shoot a Springfield Armory XD in .357 Sig ... does anyone else? This is one hell of a round... shoots through most barriers as well as level 2 vests. I'd hate to face it...

Doea anyone else have a take on the .357 Sig ?

It's good to know you, too... but I must set the record straight.

I am just a civilian who carries every day in defense of myself should such a need arise (also to make sure my second amendment rights aren't lost due to non-use). The fact that I carry what Winchester considers "Law Enforcement Ammunition" (as printed on the box) does not LE-make. There is a source over on GlockTalk.com that sells Winchester Ranger ammo to civilians at a very good price and I don't see any reason why I shouldn't use the best I can get.

As for USAF, good on ya! My father is a USAF In-country Vietnam veteran and I have much respect for that branch of service.
