My 39A was made in 1941 and the 39D that my wife has was made in 1971. Can I help in any way? -UR

I haven't seen any newer 39A's at the range. Mine is a '52 model, and I put the Marble Tang Peep Sight on it - works great! As good as a scope up to 50 yards, and it maintains the classic levergun look. A scope has to be mounted rather high to clear the hammer - and you have trouble getting a good cheek weld.

I bought a new 39A in November of 2007 and it is extremely accurate. I have a cheap bushnell rimfire scope mounted on it and I couldn't be happier with this gun.
