Taurus PT92 question

I found a PT92, 9mm at the local gunstore. It has no scratches, but some faint corrosion on the bottom on the mag. I believe it to be "mid 80s" and appears to be little used. It has original wood grips, in perfect condition. Everything is smooth, functional and an excellent grip for my big hand. Is $300 too much to pay? It'll be a plinker & fun/target shooter. I have arthritis in my hands so 9mm is as heavy as I can fire.

The Taurus websight says it is a 92B made in 1993. Input the S/N(no spaces) and they give you the option of getting more info on the firearm.

Taurus International Manufacturing Inc

Hope this helps.

I own Taurus PT92 in stainless steel, and I love it ! They are priced very well, under $450 and they come with a lifetime warranty. I have shot over 300 rounds of the cheap Walmart white box ammo and I have not had one jam, mis-fire or any other problems whats so ever.
$300 seems a little high for a 1993, is it blue or stainless? They have made a lot of improvments in the PT92, like a thicker frame and they now have de-cocker-safety, push it down for the de-cocker and up for the safety. This way they can be carried cocked & locked.

PT92

I thought the price was too high too. The dealer said they hold their price well. It is blue, with original wood grips. It has the 3 position safety.
I just went to a gun show here & saw several, priced at nearly new cost. A new Matte black costs $421 here. The stainless, is just $438.
Maybe I'll just order the new SS model...

You wont be sorry, with Taurus PT 92, I own one and they are great. They have that open top frame to make the gun almost jam proof like the Beretta has. I have one in the S.S. and I love it. Gun-Tests web site gave them a better review than the $600 Beretta.

PT92: Well, the $300 asking must have been a good price afterall. Somebody bought it while I was checking out cost/availability of a new one. Looks like $450 will get me a new SS model. The Taurus catalog shows 2 choices, an SS and a "Matte SS". Is the "Matte SS" a "non polished" SS? Has anybody seen one?

Congratulations on your new handgun, I think your going to love it. I have 92FS SS and it is one of the best shooting handguns I have ever owned. I have shot everything through it. From the cheapest white box ammo from W'mart to 147 gr. Hydro-shok to +P+ Cor-Bon. I haven't had one jam or mis-fires or any problems at all. I even tried to get it to jam by shooting it with a limp grip, it still wouldn't jam. Many people have said that most simi-autos need a break in period. Well mine didn't, it has shot great each and every time. You wont be disappointed.

The Beretta 92FS and the Taurus PT92 is one of the best handgun designs ever made.

Taurus PT92AFS (latest, stainless model)

This afternoon, I took it to the local range, set up a tin can at 75 yards & made the first shot. Wow! The dirt flew, about 6" to the left. I continued to shoot all 16 rounds. Yes, I missed the can, but 2 witnesses said "wow, missed, but barely!" When I checked the can, there were 6 holes in it (3 hits). All rounds hit within about 12", no jams, no misfires period! I couldn't believe, no break in, all excellent shots, right out of the box! I am impressed! This gun is a keeper! THANK YOU TAURUS, Great gun!
