| No Whining ![]() ![]() | Used CZ Worth it?
I went to the pawn shop and saw a CZ 527 classic in a .222 Rem caliber that looks like this: GunBroker.com guns: CZ 527 American 222 rem free rings (item: 84936585 ends: Nov-14-07 06 38 PM)With the scope already mounted. I don't know if it comes that way or if the previous owner bought the scope separately. The scope is a Bushnell 3-9x 40mm Sportsman that looks like this: Bushnell Outdoor Products I was wondering as to what you guys think about the caliber and overall gun for target shooting. The gun looks to be in good condition. No rusting and such. I tried to sneak a pic of it but it didn't come out. Asking price is $400.

Looks like an excellent target shooting rifle, Texas T. For the total package I think you're looking at a good deal.

Well, it really depends upon Condition...MSR was 592.00 when first offered in 1995. Blue Book value is 415.00 in 98%, 380.00 in 95%... Figure +50.00 for being scoped with a Bushnell Mounted. Add 88.00 more if the stock and forearm are checkered... I personally love the .222 cartridge, it is getting harder to find ammo these days it seems. New .222 cases are available to load. Rich

tt one nice thing about bolt action rifles. you dont burn through ammo anything like you do with a pistol.

For around $400 you should be able to find a new CZ in 22 lr. Save your $ for a CZ 452 or 453 and add a scope later as you can afford it. I know Billy likes his 452. I've got a 453 varmint and it will shoot with the big $ Coopers and Kimbers for a lot less outlay. Just my 2 cents. If you want a 22 for target, the rimfire will be cheaper to shoot. If yu want really long range and reload, go for the centerfire 222. Depends on your intended use. Can't go wrong with a CZ. Watch the bore condition on the used ones. |

I have one of the first CZ 452s that came into the country. It has the more traditional european style stock on it and a hooded front sight. Very nice rifle. I want a 452 American in .22lr but haven't gotten one yet. You can shoot .22s all day long for the price of 2 boxes of .222. But it just depends on what you want it for. I use Leuopold, Nikon and Burris glass on my rifles.
