PT145 Mil PRO sights

I just purchased a used PT145 with Heine sights and it is shooting a little a low ad left. I see hex key fittings on the front and rear sights but have broken two hex keys trying to loosen them to adjust. I guess my question is are these even adjustable?

Souns like the set screw is on pretty tight, maybe even with locktight. I just had my PT145PRO at the range today and made some sight adjustments, they were pretty tight but not that tight. Mine was shooting the same way, now its on the money.Good luck

Although I've only shot 25 rounds through mine, it's generally shoting low too. I tried to adjust the sights, and had the same problem. I was scared I was going to break something, so I stopped.

Welcome to G&G! You might try finding a small hardened pin punch that will fit into the opening in the screw and give it a few sharp whacks with a hammer and then try to unscrew it. If that doesn't work, try a small butane\propane torch and heat the sight slightly. If the screw has been Loc-Tited in place, one of these methods should loosen it enough to back the screws out. You may want to contact Heinie and make sure they aren't left-hand threads also.

Thanks to everbody for the quick replies! For some reason I have a feeling this is going to turn out with with me holding a broken piece of a sight standing in the middle of the house cussing like a sailor. I'll let everybody know one way or the other!

Please do, because I need to adjust mine (as does my father-in-law -- we bought ours at the same time.)

Ok a quick update, I have removed the back set screw with a T-bar hex key wrench but unfortunately rounded out the front one. After breaking the back one free the sight is still frozen in place so I'm not exactly sure as how it would adjust.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to extract the front set screw?

See if you can find an eze-out at your local hardware store or automotive supply that will fit it. Be VERY careful with it! If you snap off the end of the hardened eze-out, you'll be screwed. Another option is to drill out the set screw, but the chances of ruining the threads or the whole sight are a bit high.

Another update

After a humbling trip to the range to figure out why I was shooting low and right the range master came over to see why I was looking at my sights after every mag fired ( i hadn't moved them yet) he loaded it up and shot a perfect 2 inch pattern at 20 yards. It seems on small framed guns such as this one and the Glock 38 etc. your grip and squeezing the trigger are totally different than a full frame. Anyone have any thoughts on this??

Mine was shooting low and left also. I removed the allen screws with a good set of allen wrenches (1.5mm for front sight, 2 mm for rear sight). I knew how much I needed to "tilt" the gun to get the shots in the center, so I took off HALF that much from the front sight by removing it and using a belt sander. I am GLAD I only took off half of what I thought I needed to take off. That did the trick. And it was shooting a little left, because the rear sight was left of center. I bumped it over. Now, I get about a 4 to 4.5 inch group from about 45 feet. And that's standing up.

It definitely could be trigger control -- try a slow squeeze and see. Also, make sure your favoring sighting the pistol with the same eye as the shooting hand.

To some extent, different pistols have slightly different points of aim for different people. You can either remember this and apply KY windage, or, if the sights can be drifted, try to have this done.

Not to rub salt in the wound, but before I replaced my G26 sights with tru-glos, I tried to drift the rear sight slightly to make up for the problem you described. I succeeded only in marring the plastic somewhat. When I had the new sights installed, our gun shop/range had a tool to tweek them without hurting the gun. You may want to look into this. I could fire a few shots to check POA and them have them drift the sight a bit, a few more, etc....

I was having the same problem on mine. I have to partially agree with the rangemaster. My groups go low and to the left when my hand starts to get tired also. I watched a video a while back on youtube about the problem, and the solution was the way you held your gun. I had to play around with mine one day. I would shoot about 3 shots, then slightly move it around. I would continue doing that until I got my shots were I wanted them. Also, pushing, pulling, etc... are more pronounced on a compact.
