Question Kimber Serial Number Question

I have recently acquired a Kimber Classic Stainless LE according to the title stamped into the right side of the slide under the ejection cutout. It is a full sized 1911 style pistol with a full length guide rod.

My question is:
On the underside of the slide where the slide slides across the top of the disconnector, is inscribed by hand a serial number that matches the one stamped on the right side of the frame (all but the first number).

The serial number starts out as K01**** on the frame, but on the under part of the slide it starts out with only a 1**** inscribed, no K or 0 (I am assuming it is a 0 zero and not a the letter "O").

I have seen one other picture of a Kimber pistol where the same thing is happening with hand inscribed numbers on the under part of the slide where it slides over the disconnector . I was curious as to why this is.

If anyone has any insight, I'd love to learn about it. Thanks.

This is just Kimber's way of matching parts during the fitting process as they go down the assembly line...
There is No need to have the whole serial number anywhere but on the frame, so they Leave off the K and the 0...
