One that has recoil and is inexpensive to shoot. .223 is a very good selection.
You also need to be careful that you NOT spit shine any BAD habits. You want to learn to shoot with the noise and the recoil so you can train yourself not to flinch and jerk etc You need to be comfortable with KICK and NOISE if you are ever going to be a good shooter. When I was on the Range I use to call it ROCK and ROLL. I use to find the rythm of the ROCKnROLL and then settle in and shoot.
You will never find anything more pleasureable than shooting and being able to hit the V amongst 100 other shooters..
