Hi everyone, I am new to the site and just wanted to let everyone know that it is nice to find a site dedicated to Winchester. I have been on other sites and seem to be an outcast because I just like to talk about Win. I am a collector of 1897 Model 12 and mostly the model 70. I have to say that I am real happy about the new Model 70 comming out this year.

Thanks for the welcome. The biggest part of my collection is model 70's ,but I do have 2 custom built Mauser 98's. I had a model 88 years ago but sold it and I do not know much about the 290 or the 490. I will have to look them up.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I think I'm going to like it here. I like to give a home to forgotten Winchesters. Just Last year I bought a front assebly for a model 12, 16 Ga off of Ebay I then e-mailed the seller and asked him if he had the action with the matching serial #. he e-mailed back and said yes I could have it if I sent him the money for shipping. Well to make a long story short I got the action and had the rest of the parts laying around to put the gun together. It was a four didget serial #. Nice old gun. I do still need to take it to my smith to have it chambered for 2-3/4 shells. It will be my hunting gun. Just an example of a winchester saved from it's demise.
