To Blue or NOT to Blue...???

Hello all,
I posted a thread back in late December http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/m1-...ter-sorts.html (Frankincarbine? a.k.a. Mixmaster of Sorts)

Given that the M1 has been thoroughly modified from it's original configuration

when I got it, would it make matters worse if i stripped it down to the bare metal and blued it? It's a great shooter and a great field rifle in the high desert of NV. The bore is in great condition and accurate.

I'd like a little input on this one from those who care.
