What does a six-foot mouse sound like?

(deep voice): "here, kitty kitty kitty..."

Seems that one day, ol' Paul Bunyan was lookin' to get hisself one a'them fancy revolvers...

Now the trouble was, even the biggest hand-cannon of the lot looked like...well, about like this, there in Paul's big ol' hands.

Now ol' Paul was never one ta lie down when a challenge presented itself, so he decided he was gonna make hisself the finest handgun in the northern territories.

Now a'course, the trouble was, no gunsmith alive had ever made a revolver that big afore, and the fellers what made cannon sure as heck never made so many movin' parts for one a' their contraptions.

So Paul, he gets hisself an idea. He takes a short hike down to the trainyard (only about 300 miles, as the crow flies) and ask if'n he can have one of the old decommissioned engines. He figgered that the wheels had movin' parts, and the smokestack'd make a right fine barrel.

Now for bullets, Paul had to use a whole cask a'gunpowder in an iron bucket. By then he decided that he'd go right ahead and make himself somethin' useful 'round the logging camp. A six-shooter was nice an' all, but a shotgun...now that'd put meat on the table. So he decided to pry up all the old track and take the spikes for shot. He just rolled 'em up between thumb and forefinger 'till they were round enough. He dropped 'em on top a' the bucket a' powder, then crimped the end off by hand, real delicate like.

See now, his foresight was a'payin' off, since the pistons made right dandy slides for this here gun, and he could just get his hand 'round the bottom of the engine to rack it.

He sawed off the smokestack and put it on the front and used the top of the stack...where it flares out then in again, as a choke.

Sure enough, Paul's special shotgun could down a whole flock a' ducks in one shot, and even take down the giant elk what still lived thereabouts. 'Course Paul never was fast enough to get hisself a Whirling Whimpus in his sights long enough t'learn if they were good eatin'....
