shooting buddy got a 597, range report/minor problem

we took my shooting buddy's brand new 597 to the range yesterday and it shot beautifully, even I was punching quarter sized holes in the snow at 25 yds(we used it on the pistol range) even with the sight being a little off making it shoot a couple inches high, we only put maybe 150 rounds through it since we were just burning off his left over ammo and we were also shooting his Walther P22, with no jams, it only had one minor problem, when we put in a full mag with the bolt locked back it wouldn't go forward, but when we put the mag in loaded with the bolt closed we could rack the bolt and it shot fine, any ideas on what it is?

PS we also ran into his friend that had a Smith and Wesson SW40F so I got to shoot a .40

Hmmm, my M597 hasn't done that. I noticed that the magazines were hard to load to capacity when they were new. Maybe this will go away when the springs are worked more?

I'm not sure if I'm blessed with a good rifle, but my 597 has never failed to feed or malfunctioned in any way...

I hope your friends problem goes away.

Wait...was this problem with the 597 or with the Walther P22?

That's what I thought. If the problem continues, give Remington a call. If it is a known issue, they will be able to fix it, probably with a new magazine. They will also take the gun in and make it better if it requires more than a new magazine.

Either way, Remington customer service is some of the best out there.
