coyote hunt in NC

I am wanting to start hunting in Union Co. NC for coyote. Anybody out there hunting Union Co. and are having luck? I have a 110 acre field with some wood close to Wingate.

I advise getting several 110acre fields and moving a lot.I never had much sucess trying to hunt one small area.We hit from four to ten places in one day. sam.

when hunting coyote, what seems to be the typical distance? I see folks on TV but they are always out west. I'm in NC.

I'm in NC also, right on the coast and I've got a farmer begging me to kill the coyotes. One of my friends said he saw what looked to be a black coyote. I'm trying to get permission to use a 17HMR cause the owner doesn't like rifles. He had a bullet come through his house so anly allows shotguns or muzzle loaders. The farmer that leases the land said anything is fine with him.

Does the farmer still need help with the coyotes? I love to hunt with blackpowder flintlocks and inlines. I want to get back into varmint hunting. I miss the groundhogs in WV. I grew up in WV but have been a land surveyor in NC for 25 years. I have found most of the farmers do not want deer hunters other than family or paying hunters anymore, but will allow me to hunt the hogs and want to try something new.
Please let me know if there is an opportunity.

The farmer is no problem for any weapon, but he leases the land and the land owner says no necked down bullets plus my hunt club leases the land for deer hunting. I would get you in if I could but president of club says club members only. I'm real sorry but I did try for you.

Sir; doesn't that just suck. Like the deer will run away. Crap the deer come for food, will shooting coyote's disturb the food plots?
Deer hunter control year round for three months a year.
Approach 'land' owner with this.

Deer Hunter Lease is good from the beginning til the end of deer season. He maintains the rights to allow other hunters access.

You can try baiting with whatever you have on hand or can get free. Freezer burned meat, a dead hog or chickens, road kill deer, etcetera. When we deer hunt up here in MN sitting over a gut pile from a deer (govt. goat) we harvested the day or two before will bring results too.

killer: Sir; the fox hunters in NC have to be very careful. Fox's are considered in highest esteem.
The laws were enacted when we could chase them with dogs; outside. Now that outside is all but a thing of the past; I'm not sure what will happen.

In NC just don't go about shooting or trapping without good knowledge of state and county law.

I Am In NY TOO. I Have A Black Yote on A Place i can Hunt Set up Called 5x But Just dont see him .I

we have been hunting from bragg out towards clinton with some success...the biggest problem is getting land that isnt getting over run with coon hunters.

My shooting partner and I too are trying to get it together for the coyotes.
We have done some ridding out 218 down toward Wingate.
We haven't stopped to ask. It is in the plans.

All this babble; maybe we could get together for a hunt.

Are the coon hunters there doing as the 'deer' hunters.
Renting all the land for exclusive rights?

Gentlemen,

For those of you in NC take a look at the North Carolina Predator Hunters Association at North Carolina Predator Hunters Association.

It's a young organization aimed to help landowners/hunting clubs etc with predator and hog problems. We received our first call two weeks ago. A lady here in Eastern Nc is having issues with coyotes and bobcats on her farm. Me and another guy hunted it once but got rained out and haven't had the opportunity to make it back. These services to the landowner are, of course, free. If you enjoy predator hunting or want to learn about predator hunting we have a wide range of experience in the association.

Pertaining to Leaseing : Where I live in So.Arkansas a Hunting lease is good for hunting all game animals and not just Deer.
You can have a camp. You can go 4 wheeling on it, Take the family on picnics or nature walks "year round".
The timber companys charge an average of 3.50 to 4.00 an acre as well as individual land owners and this includes 1 million dollars libility insurance.
Haveing lease's is safer.
When you lease land here you also post it, again that makes for a safer place to hunt.
Arkansas passed a law last year, If your checked by a Game Warden and you don't have written permission to hunt on a property you'll get a ticket.

Arkansas's Game and Fish commision owns Thosands of acres and lease's Thosands of acres as well for hunters to hunt on who don't have lease's to hunt on so it's not a problem.
