| West Texas viewpoint I grew up in the oil field desert of West Texas. We generally heard them "singing" almost every night. A coyote is not a dog in the sense most people experience a dog. A coyote is extremely sensitive to its environment when it comes to hearing and smell and this is added to a superior intelligence/quicker reflexes than domesticated dog breeds. Do not feel badly if you cannot call them as they are just too "attuned" to be fooled by artificial noise.
Also, train yourself to take in wide visual fields and acquire a smaller target within this field as coyotes can appear then disappear very quickly. Good luck but do not feel badly if this type hunting is not successful as I have known many who tried but few who ever got a coyote. |
