LE ammo can be anything expansive or made for penetration of barricaded suspects.

Personally, in my Sig 229 I use .40 Speer GoldDot 165 GDHP and in my Springfield XD, I use a .357 Sig in 125 JHP. Either way, someone is having a very bad day at the nasty end of these. I also have a Winchester 94 "Trapper" in .45LC and use a GoldDot 250 GDHP. With that added velocity (barrel length), this is one nasty animal.

Some people believe police ammo is simply because of what a box says... or if it is designated as +P or +P+... but realistically, and good hollow point will do. Added velocity is not always the best idea depending on the target and what is beyond it.

My uncle was an Air Force Buff crew member in Vietnam, made it home even after it was hit by a SAM. He was injured, but not captured. Sometimes luck is all ya have...

Agreed on all points LarryO.

I researched the different rounds available prior to deciding on this one. My most convincing site wasn't any of the "scientific" sites, but rather the internet's very own unofficial ammo penetration testing site: The Box O' Truth - Ammo Penetration Testing

The results of those tests made me decide on the Ranger SXT's.

My father was based in Tan Son Nhut AFB in N. Saigon as a Chief Mechanic on an aircraft. They occasionally had mortar fire, but he obviously made it home alive and for that I'm thankful.

just_a_car ... with all of the resources on line about handgun calibers, penetration, street shoots, etc. you will be fine with the Ranger SXT's. Most people just go by what others tell them, you knew to look on your own.

See ya around on a new topic...
