| Senior Bear Fluffer ![]() | Well, I just sent off for mine and the waiting game has started. From what i gathered from this forum here is what you gain: Shipping of C&R qualified firearms directly to your home with out transfer fees. Discounts on ammo. Ability to gain dealer prices. Excuse to buy firearms. Empty check book and wallet. Increased skill at hiding, downplaying amount on receipts, invoices and new acquisitions. Need to convert the basement into a very large gun safe. And if the wife does not share your love for firearms or does not at least understand your love of firearms....things could get ugly quickly. ![]() To get one just go on the BATF website and request the paperwork for a 7CR license. The cost is 30 bucks for three years. If you buy one or two firearms in those three years then you save transfer fees you will pay for your license.

| Senior Member | Tex is right,"Excuse to buy firearms. Empty check book and wallet. Increased skill at hiding, downplaying amount on receipts, invoices and new acquisitions. My belief. "A man can not have too many guns" Cost: $30 for 3 years Also the C&R has a cool factor of 8. The C& R is actually a Federal License. Get your and order your Persian Mauser, unissued without the middle man. Some nice handguns on the market too.

| Senior Member | Once you get your C&R, you send a copy (signed) to suppliers, like Century, Aim, IO, Classic military weapons, Samco, CDNN and SOG. Recieve all the quarterly flyers. The C&R eligable firearm is delivered right to your front door. Signature required. Or you can pick it up at local UPS or Federal Express. Call Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and they will send you an application. You will also need your local chief of police endorsement too. He/she has a line to sign on the application.

| Senior Member | You also have to keep a record of the C&R guns you acquire and dispose of. Also, I've seen many people that insist they don't have to list the guns they buy in legal, face-to-face transactions because they aren't "USING" their C&R license. I'm just about positive this is incorrect. Remember, YOU are licensed. Overall, it's a great deal to have one. I have one and have enjoyed it. And no calls from the BATFE yet.

| Senior Member | This is incorrect for the majority of localities. You are only required to send your CLEO a filled out copy of the application. He does not need to sign it. There may be a few municipalities that require this by local law but it is not federal or widespread. |

I know Cali has different rules about the FFL03 (C and R) license, and since I don't live there I don't know them.. And yeah, you only need to make one or two purchases in order to save the money you spend on the license.. I'd like to meet someone who can stop at 1 or 2.. ![]()

| Senior Member ![]() | I have enjoyed my C&R (FFL03). Been fun so far. The hardest part (like all have mentioned) is balancing budget to leave room to buy another gun safe. Here are a couple of sites that may help, the first has some basic guidelines and the second is where you can order your forms. How does it save money on ammo and all the other stuff, and how do you get dealer pricing??? I'm calling ATF tomorrow to get the paperwork, about how long does the process take. I'm wanting another k31 and skipping transfer fees would be great. | |

To summarize California C&R: (for anyone who wants to know) 1. A rifle MUST be 50 years old, regardless of C&R status. Anything newer than 50 years, must go through an 01. 2. A rifle cannot be defined as an assault weapon, by features. So if it has a pistol grip or any of that "scary" stuff, you're pretty much SOL. 3. No mags over 10 rounds.
