10/22 barrell band

i have my brother in laws 10/22 and its missing the barrell band. it has an wood laminate stock and was bought new like this. but the barrell looks too short to have had a band on it. i know there was one at one time though because the stock looks like it. anyone have a shorter s/s barrell on a regular length stock? and where would be the best place to look for a band?

I don't think you will find a stainless band. The only ones I have seen are blued. If you need a blue one reply here and I'll get with you and send one.

sorry for being stupid but are you guys talking about the band that holds the front of the stock to the barrel? and if so are you say taking it off can help increase accuracy?

It's the same concept as free floating the barrel. If you seperate the stock from the barrell forward of the reciever, the barrel is allowed to flex during firing and the fluctuations in the wood stock will not be able to push on the barrell.

I'm not really sure what your point is but the
10-22T my wife has has a laminated stock, bull stainless barrel and did not come with a barrel band.

the band is alum. i think. if u want it to be stainless then just take some steel wool to a regular band and presto. an even easiear way is to drop it into a little alum. truck washing acid and it will come out as close to stainless as you will ever get. this also works with alum. scope mounts , alum recievers etc.... NO BLUED PARTS!!!!!! THE BLUING WILL COME OFF!!!!!!!
