| I personaly would buy a cenerfire caliber for coyotes. An alert wild animal like a Coyote is probably going to run off and die or be mamed for the rest of it's life.
Of course you do get lucky.
Look at it this way NC I've tied you up and sat you 60 yards from me because I intend to take your life.
You know it's going to happen and I give you a choice of the Marlin 22 rifle or the centerfire rifle in 243, which one would you choose for me to kill you with.
I would think you would want me to pick the centerfire rifle...If your normal.
For the record this is not a threat but only an illustration to make a point.
