| What happen to this forum!?!?!
This is just a rather general question of what happen to the G3/CETME forum? I haven't been apart of this group for too long, but I do remember when this use to have a good bit more traffic. What is it? Are the too pricey? Can't see that...Boring? NO WAY! Maybe the price of ammo? Possibly....Any ideas of what it could be? Better, any one have a clue of how to get more traffic here? I enjoy reading others stories of their Spanish Ladies and G3s...Just can't help to wonder what is the cause of this demise.... |

I always cruise the CETME forums and see if anybody has a question or a cool pic to show. I picked my CETME up when they where cheap ($300) got about 8 20rd mags for under $2 each, how could a guy go wrong. Also still have about 1400rds of SouthAfrican 7.62. I watched the price of this gun until I thought it was going to bottom out then I bit, I wished I would have bought two more for that price. |

I'm not really sure just how many of us in her have a G3/CETME. I do. Big Dog does. And, I see now RabodPitWeasle has one and I am assuming Sean may also have one. They are great and powerful black gun that is, for the most part, under known and under appreciated. Who else has one in here? I have no idea how to improve this particular forum other than to discuss the CETME or G3 and taunt it's qualities in hopes that it stirs interest. One problem with the gun I see, Sean is that at around $600-$700 a gun some people might subsctibe to the idea that with a little more they could have an AR type framed gun or such or a couple of AKs or a safe of Mosins, etc.

I know they have climbed in price just with in the last year. I never knew what they where till about a year ago so I'm sure they've climbed for a while before I became involved. When I bought mine, I was able to pick it up for $400 when elsewhere they where $600 plus, so I think deals can still be found with them, but I'm not for sure. As for hoping to draw others in by taunting thee qualities to draw interest, that is EXACTLY what I hope this thread will do. So let's just see what can happen, and keeps hopes up for the Spanish Ladies! lol

I have the stamped receiver and not a cast one. I was thinking of trying the claw clamp mount but I have read that in order for the claw mount to sufficiently hold it has to be clamped so tight that often the stamped steel actually collapses. So, my question is what do you think of the claw clamp mount on a stamped receiver and what is it you have?

I sure wish I had one. I have always been partial to the CETME G3 rifles. What is an entry one going for these days??

I want one too, and the entry level ones are going for about $700 and up. I've heard that Century Arms isn't modifying them anymore to remove the full-auto capability and therefore the supply has dried up, which explains the price rise. It's suckola for guys like us that don't make a zillion dollars a year.

My CETME has the stamped steel reciever too. I haven't "fine tuned″ the scope mount yet, but I haven't played with it lately either. It does slide forward, but it stops once it hits the ejection port and when I zero it in with it al the way forward against the ejection port, it stays zeroed in until you remove and then replace the mount. There's a hole in the top of the CETME reciever that's suppose to have a screw that goes threw the mount and into it to stabilise the mount. I haven't tried this yet, but that's my next move. I haven't had any malfunctions with the rifle as a result of the scope mount, but I hear There's worry of crushing the reciever in and jamming the rifle due to the clamping force of the claw style mounts. The mount I've got on there is a STANAG style mount. As for the entry price for a CETME now, my best advise is check GunBroker.com or GunsAmerica.com. I've seen them from $450 to $700. If I ever see anything that seems half decent I'll mention it on here for the sake of this forum! :-)

I've had my CETME, named "Jessica", for around a year or so now. I don't post much about her because I'm so busy with finishing up my chemistry degree at the UofWashington; I'm supposed to graduate in August. If I had more time to shoot her, you'd certainly hear more from me here. I do check every new reply on the forum though and usually I post in response. I just scoped my CETME with an AccuShot Scope Mount, but I couldn't get it to zero. Weird thing is, it doesn't look like the mount moved. Maybe it was the Simmons rings?

It just goes in waves. We take our Spanish Ladies for a few range dates, then we go to something else. At the gunshow this past weekend, one vendor had a standard CIA-built CETME for $850!! I nearly choked . . . ![]() I haven't been shooting my CETME much, as I'm conserving ammo.

Well, judging by the way the price of the CETME seems to be on a rather steady climb, I must say that I'm faced with a dilemma, as well as possibly some more of us. This would be caused by the fact that for the current owners of the CETME, it's always nice when a rifle appricates in value, but in this case, it makes it harder for others to obtain the rifle. I would enjoy seeing more people being able to enjoy these rifles more than I would like to see the price of them climb. I believe that this in all honesty, is the only time the the increase in value of a rifle that I own has not made me happy. :-( I can definately understand conserving ammunition, seeing how the price of all ammo is on the rise, but it seems like the .308 has climbed at a raster rate than some others. This leaves one word left to be said.....BUMMER! :-(

It makes me even more happy that my CETME came with 360 rounds of Wolf .308Win. That's easily $200 worth of ammo now. Knock that off the price I paid and you're looking at around $450 for my CETME, 13 magazines (including 1 5-rounder, 2 30-rd'rs, and a few steel mags - the rest are Aluminum alloy G3 mags) plus a bipod and laser and sling. I think I got a fair price for mine when they were listing on Gunbroker for the gun and a couple mags for $500.

{Nice Ford "Just A Car"!} I'm a "happy" owner of a Cetme that I got back in 2003 for $295.00 Century. I just wish I had bought more of the cheap ammo during that period of time. I had about (10) 20rd mags along with (5) 30rd mags when I found the (50) 20rd mags at Tapco for a buck each. I was a proud owner of a Norinco AK47 and thought that was the way to go till I got the Cetme. With prices the way they are, a .308 Saiga for $400 may be a good "investment" for future consideration. I hope to get a first hand view of my friend's Saiga when we can get to the range. I bought a .308 Indian Enfield to help shoot up the Indian ammo I bought...I don't want to shoot it in the Cetme any more in case of the "problem" others wrote about in the past forums. Hope to read more of your all's reports and posts. Thanks for keeping it interesting!!! A gun Nut from Central Missouri. [snow came today---kind of pretty out] almost perfect to be out shooting! Thanks |

Hey guys, I've had the worst run of luck lately, First my computers crashed and I lost everything on them and then I crashed with a back problem and just got out of the hospital, and I was also wondering what happened to this forum. I have a CAI CETME that I paid $300 for with 300 rds of good Indian ammo. I've had no problems with the ammo. I used a Tapco SWAT mount to mount a Tasco 3x9x40 Gloden Antler scope, and after getting the mount anchored properly with the set screws, every thing works well. I took my Spanish/American lady deer hunting this season and you should have seen the looks she got. We didn't get a deer, but had fun anyway. I found some Lake City 168gr match grade BTHP for hunting. $20 per box of 20. I'm not real comfortable shooting commercial ammo in my CETME even though I've heard both stories about it. As soon as I'm physically able to take some more pics, I'll be sure to post them. |

I have a Cetme (cetmedog). Got it years back when it was cheap $320 and got a good deal on ammo back then $80 a 1000 of old dirty yugo tracer. My FAL choked on those rounds but the old cetme ate them up asking for more. Fluted chamber is most likely the reason. The FAL is like my girl friend, works on expensive rounds, not dirty and cheap ones. It is a Century and I have a ARMS claw mount on it with a ATN, wide HK forearm with steel bipod. Sold the telescoping stock just cause it has no good cheak rest but looked cool. Never had a jam and never had a problem with the mount. I would shoot it like I used to but with ammo costs it stinks and the fact I havent gotten around to reloading 308. It has been shelfed for the time being. |

Feel free to go check out my "I couldn't hold out" post in this forum for a few pics of my new Accushot claw mount. I haven't been able to get it sighted properly, but the mount doesn't seemed to have moved at all even after 25 rounds of Wolf .308Win.

BTW, thanks for the compliment LakerDad. It's a 1972 Ford Mustang Mach1 with a 351 cleaveland 2-v V8 that I swapped in an Edlebrock Performer aluminum intake and Holley 650cfm 4-v double-pumper with mechanical secondaries and electric choke. Also switched out the points with a Pertronix electronic ignition. Man, that thing is a blast to drive!
