Remington 870 chambering problem

I have an 870 I took as a trade and it won't chamber shells. Talked to Remington and they sent me 2 new "spring latches" which I installed. No luck. It appears that the left latch doesn't depress to allow the shell to pass. Don't have a gunsmith close and I can't see the function that will depress that darned latch. Any ideas?

I not real sure, I have a video on the Mossberg 500 let me watch it and see if I cant find something that make sense. I know the guns are diffrent but I'll bet all pumps have similar charactirists. If that doesnt work and we cant help here. I suggest if you have the money go to AGI and look for this video AGI - Remington 870 They run about 40-50 bucks a pop with S&H. You can get them at Brownells, Midway Usa, and a few other places as well.

Dicky d Get it to a smithy and get the professionals to look at it.
My 870 Wingmaster would jam also with alot of the high brass shells. Stamped on the barrel of my older model 2 3/4" shells NOT 3". Make sure ya don't use them. Oh they will fire but it was not made for that particular model and you could risk harm to the barrel or yourself. I took that gun to a smithy and he replaced a few parts, it now chambers fine and the cost was around $35.00 last year.

Took it to a gunsmith yesterday. Couldn't believe what I heard, "incompatibility of parts". I had ordered parts from Remington based on model and serial number and they matched what was in the gun, however they weren't the right ones either. Makes me love my model 12 even more.

sorry to hear about your 870 problems, which are rare ,a lot of my family members own 1 or 2 870 's includeing me and I'm not aware of any haveing any kind of problems.
I hope you got it fixed and enjoy it for years to come...A.H

Rare to hear of problems with 870. I had one for decades it finally started to jam so I took it apart and wood shavings from when ti was made had worked their way into the action a good cleaning and it was back to great.

Hope ya get her fixed, cause that is a fine gun, still have mine and after the smithy fixed her, she never give me a lick of problem. Good luck my friend.
