| Have Taurus judge 3" barrel pistol with rifling and shoot 000 buck thru it regularly with no issues to the barrel. But the 000 is only going thru 3 or 6" of barrel; I'm not sure how longer barrel would respond but think you'd be less likely to get damage than leading due to the lack of a shot cup (and the shot potentially hitting each other). After all, when you shoot regular shot thru the rifled barrel, you're doing essentially the same thing as with buckshot; buckshot is just larger. I would think steel shot (unless well contained in shot cup) would be alot more abrasive.
The bigger question is why ? The rifled barrel on the taurus gives a pretty wide and somewhat unpredictable pattern with 000 buck. About 1' between pellets at 50 feet. Shot tends to stay on full size silohette at same range. It might be interesting to pattern the shotgun and see what it does with buck, but I suspect you might get rapid dispersion due to the rifling. I really have no idea how the pellets would respond to the rifling or if they would do so consistently at range.
