Possible new rifle?

Getting ready to file my taxes not for sure what I'll get back. And how much I'll have left to play with afterwards. But I think Im going to look for a rifle to hunt yotes with, and I'll need a solid CHEAP scope. Guessing I'll have about 300 to play with. If I have to I can wait on the scope, if I feel the need I can trade in my Savage 93 17HMR. What do you guys suggest Ive been leaning on a .223. Shot a 22-250 once and a 22 hornet not for sure if the hornet will do the job havent seen it mentioned here before. 204, 243? And please dont just list the caliber but the make and model as well. If youve bought one recently what you paid or the going price would help as well. Im leaning towards the H&R or NEF Handi Rifle .223 with the 22" bull barrel. Probably wont get but one shot off at a time anyways. And if I do get a 2nd how accuate will I be on a running yote. But I do like a bolt action. Not interested in a semi unless your thinking shotgun.

Thats my educated guess I expect more than that but I think thats about what I'll have to spend. The infamous ex clamed the boy for the entire year and head of house hold. I probably could have made a fuss about it buy it wasnt worth it, imo. After all its just money. I know 300 wont get much but its a start and like I said I'll trade something in for boot if I have to. I know the 93 17 wont get much but I got a couple other toys laying around to.

Plus it doesnt have to be NIB either. I acquire very few guns NIB.

If that's the case, then the single shot is probably going to be the most cost effective way to go.As for caliber choice, the .223 and the.22-250 are the most popular in the New England fire arms,Rossi, and the H_R you spoke of.Out of those 2 I would probably go with the .22-250.

If your a working single individual, you may get about $500 or
$600 this May or June from the rebate the Government is giving to help BOOST the economy.

On a side note, kind of stupid on their part to borrow billions from the United states of Emirates and whomever else, (just to give us rebates) when we already owe those same countries or others lots of cash as it is.

But yea, if you can wait a tad longer, you just might have more to spend and better to choose from?

On yet another side note, I hope things are getting better and easier J.?

Do you have a 12 gauge now pistol city?If you do get some slugs , 1oz works . practice how low they shoot at 50 75 yards. Calling coyotes with a electronic call at this range is easy. At least in az . the call & slugs dont cost 300 then later you get yourself a nice bull barrel varmint vaporizer for them smart ones that stay out to farthats what I did anyway...

I got a Savage 750 with a full choke barrel, and a H & R 162 Buck Special with a Lyman peep sight, that gun needs a few things. What about a Mossberg 500 20ga full rifled barrel, could use the Hornaday STS heard that shoot like a 12. Then again I do love a shotgun might just look for a solid new 12. Scatter gun might not be the gun of choice for SHTF situation, especialy with the weight of the ammo. But I sure do love them.

Ron since I started reading the bible the other night things have gotten alot easier, except for smoking. Maybe I should focus on 1 thing at a time.

Yes, one thing one step at a time J. Anytime, you know how to reach me. And I'm really happy to hear of any positive progress for YOU! The smoking thing, will come in time. You have to realllllllllllllly want to quit first off, not have a lot of stressful things going on secondly and this to you shall overcome. All I can say, is I smoked for almost 30 years, and it feels great to breathe in and not feel as if someone if sitting on my chest when I do. Not to mention, it's true, food taste soooooooooo much better when you don't smoke. lol Problem is, you tend to eat more for not only that reason, but because you are usually replacing the habit with food. I found a lot of water, to help flush the nicotine out and a lot of popcorn. Not all that fatty and fills you up. Good luck my friend.

Don't be afraid to get the NEF. And if money is an issue, go for the .223, it will be the cheapest to shoot.
