| Every one here has give you really good advise. If you want a really good shooter, I would do everything that has been suggested. I have done two Mauser 98's and have spent about $1400 each. I used the Shilen barrel and Timney triggers. I had all the machine work done that was necessary and had custom stocks made. Get the Winchester style safety. They are really nice if you like custom rifles. The 257 Roberts is really sweet because it was built on a small ring 98 action. It's probably the best fitting rifle I have ever owned. My son claimed that one as soon as I brought it home. So I had a 25/06 built on a large ring 98 and it's real nice except it's a little heavy. Good luck and keep us posted.
