| Registered User | I think what they are doing is our Archery deer season runs from Oct. 1- Feb 28 and they dont want people in the woods with deer type weapons during that time. Thanks for the info.

| Senior Member | That is all confusing to me....i have a 22 mag that i plan to hunt coyotes with. Of course i know the accuracy of my gun too, it easily shoots 1" at 100 yards so i plan to go for head shots of course, also i know many people around the area that hunt coyotes with rimfires. Also the season? why limit it we have year round season with whatever u want to shoot at them..... |

| Member | they must like the coyotes in Arkansas because here in Iowa there are almost no restrictions on coyote hunting because they're predators and eat livestock and diminish the regular game population. anyways my Dad used to use a .22 lr with a 50-round drum because it was light and handy for when he was tracking. for close range (50 yds. and under) a .22 magnum would probably do alright, I would just make sure you can make some follow up shots |

| Senior Member | I think the .22 magnum is fine personally. I think CCI has .22 magnums with a FMJ, if you want to go for a head shot I think something like that that won't fragment as much would work better, but for a broadside I think you should stick with a fragmenting or expanding bullet, and keeps you shots under about 125 yards.

| Member | i would use the 22 mag. it may be under powered but for ur situation i would use it. if we r all being honest with ourselves, i could be wrong, but if a yote was at 50 yds. i doubt many would hesitate to take a shot if the mag was layin there beside us. |
