| First off let me start by saying Im no Springfield XD expert. I bought both of mine because I felt they were the best semi-autos out there for the money. I wanted one for personal protection and CC and one for home protection and just plane fun shooting. I did how ever resurch my purchase exaustively.
As far as my resurch can tell me (and anyone who knows for certain Im wrong here please by all means correct me) what we at present know as the XD line of polymer framed semi-autos originally came to the US sometime in 2000-2001 from a plant in Croatia and was clalled the "HS2000" semi-auto.
I have no idea exactly what year Springfield became partners with the makers of the HS2000 and renamed and re-introduced the HS2000 as what we know today as the "Springfield XD" line of polymer framed semi-autos, but my best guess of what year this occured would be late in 2001 or some time in 2002. February 2003 is first year that i can say 100% for certain that I read a review of a Springfield XD so it stands to reason XDs had to be widely available for purchase in 2002 at a minimum, quite possably earlior.
As far as what any used XD is worth depends of cource on the shape it is in and what type model it is and what finish it has. For example my 5" XD45acp Tacticle in bi-tone mat stainless slide with black frame is worth more than a black on black 4"XD compact model if all other factors are equal.
You said the XD40 you are looing at is in your words "slightly used" Does this mean this XD is in 90%+ of new condition? If so and it is say for the sake of argument a XD40 Compact model, it would be for $380 a very good price if in slightly used excellent condition. But without knowing more about the exact model of XD you are talking about and the shape and condition it is in I realy would be BSing you if i were to tell you what I think it may be worth and if $380 is a good price.
Hope I was helpfull,
Arthur. |
