silent weapon

Okay lets face it in a Red Dawn scenario we eventually will need to conserve our ammo whether 22 or 30-06 or any higher or lower. So what I want know is what would you use for a meat gitter in place of a gun.

Well if that was something I would have to do. I would use some type of snare or leg trap.
The thought comes to mind in case of an event like Red Dawn or SHTF we need to learn about preserveing and cureing meat wouldn't you think ?

compact crossbow that can be broken down and transported easily and use of blunt tip arrows which have a higher chance of being reused over and over. At least this is what I came up with for zombie survival.

Out here in California there is talk about put a serial number on every round sold so they can keep an eye on us… One of two things will happen… either the ammo companies will stop selling to California or they will double or triple the cost of buying ammo out here… They have forced us in to stock piling ammo… So they way I have it figured, that is, I probably have enough ammo right now to out last my grandkids, grandkids… So crossbows, throw rocks or just down right wrestling a bear for a meal just is not going to happen with me… Don’t get me wrong I a firm believer that we should get all the toys we want… Now if I could just figure out how to make a silencer for all these…

RED DOT SCOPE/SIGHT 100 LBS RIFLE CROSSBOW HUNT & FISH - eBay (item 110222904894 end time Feb-13-08 11:04:50 PST)

New Phantom Crossbow

I would like to add that invading the USA would be a tactical nightmare for any army, our country is just too big. More realistic survival scenario would be zombies or a robot uprising.

You can make several silent hunting weapons yourself. Make a rabbit stick, basically a 2' stick that you can throw to stun or kill a rabbit. Make and Atlatl, you can become pretty good with it in a very short time. Snares are the best because you set them and go on with other chores. Also you can make bolas, some guys are good enough to catch birds with them, they do take some practice. Don't forget Blowguns and as already mentioned darts.

If in a camp situation, ie. NOT on the move . . .
Setting several snares for smaller critters is less work intensive, and will bag the game while you take care of other chores.
For larger game, get and PRACTICE with a good bow. My old Bear TD45 is a take-down model, easily transportable. No silly wheels to break or get sticky.
And there is always fishing. A small fishing kit is in my PSK. Lots of water down here in my AO.
A Red Ryder and several packs of BBs can last a good long time, and WILL bag a squirrel! Been there, done that. It's quiet too.

1. Never will happen because first off police will have to buy brand new ammo (OMG THE GOVERNMENT SPENDING MONIES OH NOES)

2. Technology right now isn't that advanced, so don't worry, the federal government wont let that pass.

Plus you could just use a revolver, and wahla no shell casing. Also tell Arney that will be alot of paper work, and that won't be eco friendly

Oh, okay, I get it now. At first, when I saw just the title, Silent Weapon, I thought it was a silent weapon of the gaseous kind. My bad. lmao. I thought it might be a joke for a minute there, but you're serious.

Yes then by all means, CROSS BOW or COMPOUND BOW.

You would be amazed at how well a really good sling shot works the good ones will take most game smaller than a deer but the DNR has rules about what you can hunt with. In my state you need to be disabled to hunt with a crossbow. PS if you want to be quiet but still use a gun, CB caps work for rabbits and squirrels and sound like a pellet gun. and a pellet gun is not bad too. you can get them up tp 50 cal and with enough power to kill anything, but they are spendy.

True, but I think this was for if we or one was in a SHTF type scenario?

depends on what type. I would use poisons that wouls cause infection, for that all you need is a needle and feces. More advanced would be a plunger type, you can cheat and use a disposable diabeties needle. take out the plunger take off the rubber part of the plunger push it back into the cylander (after poison of course), push it down 3/4 of the way, place a ballbearing inside behind set plunger and tape the back ( you must leave an air hole so plunger can be forced forward), place flights on the needle and you have a dart that works by injecting.

When you fire the dart and it hits the target the ballbearing inertia will push the plunger forward injecting the toxin. This isnt the best for a blow gun, but if you use compressed air (co2, pellet rifle, compressor) it works fabulously. You could also use them in booby traps where they coud be dropped on enemies. Anarchist cookbook has some good ideas on the topic, look for it in a used book store. Its not illegal to learn the info in that book, I dont condone its use against the goverment or illegal activity.

Well this is a what if. That includes invasion It is true we would be mission impossable to invade, if it wasn't it would have already happend. I choose to day dream about a foreign power being the attacker verses my neighbor. This is completely a work of the imagination so you day dream about social breakdown and killing your fellow american, and I will day dream about killing invading forces (russians, chinese, and towel heads).
