I bought an IAI M1 carbine several months back and have had no problems whatsoever with it. It shoots quite well., and I'm putting scope on it as we speak to go out and possibly shoot some pigs this weekend here in Texas. Bought the gun used from an auction site and it was very reasonably priced. The only thing I have done to the gun so far, is buy a 5 shot mag because the 30 rd made the gun too bulky in the blind.

which of the three models do you have. The model makes a big difference.

They are hit and miss, some people love them some hate them. As long as you are happy with yours really doesn't matter what anyony else thinks. Company has been out of buisness now for a few years. My neighber has one that he just took to a gun show to sell. $350.00 with two mags and a few hundred rds ammo

I bought one the year they came out. Great little popper. Accurate as all get out. I only use the 15 round mags.

My Dad is WWII vet. the gun is just like he remembers it. although he thinks the stock is abit chunckier.

Mine was made with new receiver, and new barrel and stock. all the other parts were un used military contract from WWII. Or so the American Rifleman, and others, reported.

It is a great house defense gun.

My M888 IAI Carbine is fun to shoot, but has some issues.
1) Rear peep sight was loose and would wander side-to-side. A dab of JB Weld fixed that.
2) The latch nub on the factory magazine was worn nearly away - so the ten-rounder would drop out when fired! My after-market 30-rounders work fine.
3) Every so often, the op handle disconnects from the bolt. Annoying.
4) I'm getting some stove-pipes - I think the gas valve needs a good cleaning.

Big Dog, funny you should mention it stovepiping. My neighbors was doing this so I striped it down for him. The gas piston nut was coming loose. It hasd never be staked in place and was backing out. I tightened it up for him and now its fine

AHA! Thanks for the tip - I'll check that. Probably is loose, as the rear sight hadn't been staked properly either.

I beleive it is Isreali Arms International. You will not find out much about them as they are no longer in buisness. They were a company in Texas that Imported all the parts (except reciever) and assembled them on a commercial made after market reciever. The earlier ones had more USGI parts on them than the later ones. Like I stated, no longer in buisness, think they have been out for years

They must have come and gone during the time I was overseas the longest (75-81). I'd never heard of them until this site.
Thanks for the info.

I have not heard of them either. May have something there oldjarhead, I was pretty much over there from 71 to 75 and did not get back into firearms for a while after that. Pretty much a "dead zone" as far as info was concerned. Not much of a information highway back then was there....

Hey--Just bought M1--IAI from senior and it is new as any I have ever seen, he claims never fired since he bought new. I have been trying to ID this gun and found your forum a great asset. You are right about the stock, it is a little bulky at pistol grip, but I like the synthetic custom stock, for balence and makes gun a little lighter. Just posted thread for info on mine and found yours and thanks for help. New member and thanks for welcome--J_HOSS

Moderator, can you tell me what a NEW condition bayonet for M1 is worth--Thanks
