| Senior Member | I'm not a trophy hunter. I'd just as soon shoot a slickhead as a heavy horned buck. Here are some of my trophys ![]()

| Senior Member | My best to date would have to be the water buffalo i shot last year, he went 32 1/2 inches tip to tip, no world beater by any means, but i still put the effort in to get him - fair chase, no guide, on 1.4 million acres - so i was more than happy, 1 shot from my Model 70 in .375 H&H saw him fall where he stood. I am going back in May this year so i will see if i can find one of his bigger mates. ![]() Here is a few other pictures for ya while i am at it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Senior Member | My biggest and best was shot before my family caught on with the digital age, so no pics. But it was my 3rd deer hunt, that would've made me about 16 years old. I had just gotten my very own rifle, a Marlin 30-30 with a scope on it. I was so excited about the scope that I was sure this was the year that I'd drop one beyond a 100yds. Come opening morning at about 7 am a real nice 8pt buck walks beneath my stand and saunters over to a tree about 20 feet away. I lifted my gun and looking through that darn scope I couldn't see anything but fur, so I guessed where the heart should be and pulled the trigger and dropped it with a lung shot. Save from my dad's 9pt he shot when he was 16 my deer is the largest to be harvested in our family for all of the years of our IL and MO hunting. Sorry no pics.

| Senior Member | I don't have a photo but here is the story. I had scouted out a spike buck back in about 1983 because I had never killed a spike. I had this deer timed perfectly. Back then I mostly hunted for meat and not antlers and I just wanted to harvest my buck because after the first day it is just luck here. Well I knew that if the hunting pressure wasn't that bad on the first day I would have a legal buck. The first day came and I walked to my stand about 4:30 in the morning and got myself settled in for the buck I knew would come down the trail at about 8:00 AM if no one spooked him. Well at about 7:30 AM I heard a dog barking coming up the hill towards my stand. There was my beagle trailing me because she wanted to go hunting. I got out of my stand and walked the dog back home and tied her up. Well I knew that the buck was either scared off or it had already passed my stand. So I walked back up the hill disappointed and just stood next to a tree hoping that the Buck was late. At about 11:00 AM I heard a noise, so I looked around the tree and saw the biggest Buck I had ever saw in this area. I shot the buck with my Rem. 700 6MM and it dropped in it's tracks. When I counted there were 11 points. I took the deer to my dads house to show him and he said lets take it to the checking station were I entered you in a Big Buck Contest. Well to make a long story short, I won five hundred dollars. My beagle ate like a queen for a month.
