Tale of survival

I just saw this article on yahoo news and found it interesting. It made me wonder if I could survive such an ordeal and what I would do if I found myself in this mans place. Hopefully that will never happen but it just brings out the need for survival preparedness under any circumstance.

Interesting that he survived off the animals that he had trapped.

fuel

Shwanzig: Sir; you are expecting alot from the body. Under ideal situations; maybe.

Under stress, not at all. Food is fuel, fuel helps keep the body warm, fuel assist finding fuel. Fuel prevent the body from having to overwork the body organs. Very complex=fuel

'redhead'; most folks who spent the time and learned some of the eating habits of game, then 'folks' got hungry; they could and would eat.

Skin off the animals can and is used from shoestrings to blankets. Lord knows that I don't want one of them stinking things on me.

Native Americans utilized virtually every part of a buffalo kill. Nothing was wasted. There is an old joke that says they used everything except the 'moo' and if they could have they would have used that too. I think under extreme conditions the human animal is capable of doing and eating things that under normal conditions wouldn't even be remotely considered 5 star dining.

It's all about survival.

What happen to the old 3 rule

3 minutes without air
3 days without water
3 weeks without food

No one said you would be in good condition, but be alive at least for a short while

As a nurse I can say from experience that the only one of the three rules that I've seen to be true is the 3 minutes without air. The other two are open to individuality and physical conditioning. I've seen people go for longer than 3 days without water and shorter than 3 weeks without food before the end comes. Personally, I don't want to be in the position to test any one of the three theories any time soon.
