| Senior Member | Thinking about picking up a cousin for cetme
My favorite gunstore has a PSG1 clone for 1500 dollars. My dealer says its actualy better than a true factory PSG1 because its made with better components. He also said that if it had an HK stamp on the side the gun would sell as an upgraded psg1. So what do you guys think? I have been saving up for a long range rifle but every time I get the money up I see a battle rifle I want. Im torn between picking up the clone and getting a steyer ssg. Help me out.

Well, since a CETME is running around $600 these days, if you add in the cheapest PSG-1 stock: HK Stocks & Forearms @ $705, plus the PSG-1 grip: PSG-1 Style Grip @ $60, plus the trigger group: HK Factory Trigger Groups @ $550 (or just get both the trigger group and grip on that site for $790), plus scope and mount.... Well, you get the idea. You're talking easily $2500+ for a "proper" PSG-1 conversion. If this guy put it together with what appears to be good parts all around, that's a steal.

No worries, I've drooled over the PSG-1 since well before I even knew about the CETME... actually, that's how I found out about the CETME; I wanted a base to build up a PSG-1 from. I still like the idea of just getting the grip with the palm shelf and then getting a 4-rail aluminum forearm. That plus a flash hider (instead of the muzzlebreak) and a bayonet and bayo lug would complete my rifle... for now.
