| Senior Member | H&R question... i bought a 30.06 handi rifle back in 99 i think. anyway i shot about two boxes of ammo and the dang thing just flat rufused to eject the shells without the aid of my pocket knife! so i did some reading and found that it was a pretty common problem,so i hung it up and havent shot it since! but i read on another forum that they have since changed the design of their extractors. now if this is true i will send my reciever in and have it re-barreled! so i wanted to ask yall, is this true? did they change their extractor design? if so that sucker will be in the mail tomorrow! i did love shooting the thing, but man it was a pain!

| Senior Member | I saw your post several days ago and was surprised that there weren't any replies. H&R/NEF went from an ejector to an extractor a while back. I liked the ejector, especially in my 45-70. I liked the way that shell popped up so cleanly. However, if your ejector wasn't working, you should have been able to send it in and get it fixed. They have a 2 year warranty, which is long gone for you. However, I'd suggest that you give them a call and talk to them. The people are very helpful and you can get straight information from them instead of counting on my faulty memory. Their phone number is 978-630-8220. Call and if you don't get through right away, they give you an 800 number to call. Good luck. |

| Senior Member | H&R/NEF seem to be good people (seems to be true of a lot of people involved with guns) and have a reputation of being good to work with the customer. I have several H&R/NEF's and really like them. They just came out with a .300 Win Mag and I'm really debating about ordering one. I haven't found a price yet, maybe I'll check at my local place tomorrow and see if they have a price on one. |

| Member | Boy!! I'd sure like that .300 Win Mag barrel for one of my SB2s. I wonder if it is in the accessory barrel probgram. I'll have to give them a call. Yes, they are wonderful people to deal with. |

| Member | I have the .300 Win Mag Rifle (SB2-300) on order locally at $319.00. I don't have a clue yet when I'll get it, but I'll let you guys know if I live thru sighting in!!! The barrels aren't in the accessory program yet. You can download the SB2 owners manual at h&r1871. Click on "rifles, Handi Rifle, and owner's manual. It has an exploded diagram and parts list. That may help you. Their toll free number is 866 776-9292 Last edited by petemi; 02-17-2008 at 10:15 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| Senior Member ![]() | They should hook you up Whirlwind. I just got done sending my 223 back. Broke my heart, but the breach unloked a few times upon firing. I also wanted ot see if they could do something witht he 98# trigger. I wa going to spring for the $40.00 trigger job from my gunsmith, but I heard (not sure if true) they would return a trigger back to factory if you sent it in for other work. So, I explained all this in the letter. Hopefuly it dosen't take too long to get back. Right in the middle of prime coyote season here.
