| Registered User | Hey guys hows it going? Im new to this hole message board stuff but today i went to a gun shop by where i live and they had a Springfield GI and after holding the gun i fell in love and had to have it the only problem was the price tag. The gun was going for $650 which to me didnt seam like a bad price but i just spent like $700 on some parts for my AR-15 so money funds wernt really in the pocket. Well i get home start looking around the net and find that you can get this gun for much less than that and ended up ordering one tonight for like $430ish never owned a 1911 so any information or insight any of you can give me would be appriceated. |

Trader Rating: (0) | im glad you didnt pay $700! when you get it clean and lube it well and put a bunch of rounds through it. mine took about 250 rnds. to break it in . then no more stovepipes and it started just churning em out.

| Senior Member | Here's a pic of my Gi,XD, and my Glock 10mm. I got the GI for 510. I've had my gi for about a month now and have put about 150 rounds through it. At first i was having some stove pipes, that stopped happening, and now it performs well except it sometimes will not push the round all the way in the chamber when the slide is locked back and you put in a new magazine. It also does the same thing intermittently on the last round of the clip. I'm gonna rung another 100rds through it and if it still is doing the same thing i'm gonna send it back to SA. I already spoke to them and they seem to stand behind their product 100%. The XD has been totally reliable since day one right out the box and i must say that i like the way the 1911 feels, but the XD is just more practical. I still haven't gotten used to the gi sights. i dotted the front sight with some white fingernail polish the day i got it to help visibility, but i am consistently shooting 7-8" Low and to the left ![]() ![]() ![]() |
