| Senior Member ![]() | You better have several canadian goose decoys with them.Even more important is the call. They have electric but I never used one.A hand call takes practice but works when done right.I like to use an OU which is faster to reload but usually opt for pump or auto for the extra shell. sam. |

| Senior Bear Fluffer ![]() | Decoys are a real asset. As long as the color is at least close to natural then should be OK. As stated, calls work if done properly. If you don't know how to call properly leave the call at home. Any type of shotgun will work as long as it is used with in the limits of the gauge and load. Break actions are great. 3" 1/2 inch chambers are prefered but I have killed geese with 2 3/4". Main thing is to be comfortable with your firearm. What you shoot best use that. I have a buddy who uses a single shot 12 and he kills as many geese as I do.

| Senior Member | When we hunt Canadian geese, we use all GHG FFD decoys, and they do the trick really well. Geese can nauturally be different colors, but if there is any glare/shine on your decoy, don't plan on killing too many geese. Calling geese is tougher than most people think. Go to a calling contest in your area, and hear all the sounds they make. Sometimes, they are just making sounds to please the judges, but they also have a very wide range on what they can do with a call. |

| Senior Member ![]() | +1 on alll above. A break open SXS or OU may be problematic if hunting out of a pit. You have to amnuver the gun muzzle just right sticking out of the pit to get it loaded and unloaded. IMO there are two types of guns that don't do well in pits, break actions and guns with short barrels. (hard on the ears)

| Senior Member | I have no faith in calling contests, been in a few and got no where, then come duck shooting I can pull them in from way out there. They call 'different' in competitions to please judges not birds Out of a hide you can get more shots away quicker out of a OU than a five shot, but it takes a lot of practice. For that last 15 minutes of light when their coming in hard it's the OU for me, I can never load the auto fast enough and end up with more coming in and only one shot in the gun
