At Last The Model 25-2 N.I.B. Found

Hello All
I have had a model 25-5 revolver chambered in .45 Colt since Early last summer. I wanted a Matching revolver which is the model 25-2 in .45 ACP ever since I located my model 25-5 but they are even tougher to locate in my area. I lost out on Three of these as they sell so quick before loacting this one on the internet. it is shown below with it's original presentation case, grips, tools and Paperwork and below that with it's Kissing Cousin the model 25-5. The blue on those things is as deep as the Grand Canyon. Absolutely gorgeous!

Wish my old one was that nice. I bought years ago when smith was having Quality control problems and sold the piece of junk I had a kit gun in 22 that was junk too. Never could find a 45 colt so I bought a copy (astra I think) it was a darn nice outfit, let a friend talk me out of it long ago and I miss it.

I've owned two S&W Model 19's, 6 inch .357's. The bluing on S&W revolvers is just sooooo nice, awe inspiring. I miss 'em.

You are very welcome and Thank You Sir for the Kind words. After Locating this Model 25-2 that was Unfired I attended another gun show and came across a very rare set of Walter Roper grips. Roper supplied The Camp perry shooting Teams from the Middle 1930's-Late 1940's. He had a Old World Artisian Named Matheis Gagne who hand Made his Custom Gun grips. At that time S&W did not offer any larger style Target shooting grips and when Roper took his idea to them, it fell on Deaf Ears, so he made his own available. Matheis Gagne had his Son working with him later in his life, and when he retired his Son went to work for S&W. It was Matheis Gagne's Son that was Instrumental in the design and development of The famous Model Pre-29 "Coke Bottle" Grips which were fondly Named that do to The Hour Glass shape they had with slight Palm swells and the Oval shape Bottom they they had as well. Matheis Gagne's Son took his fathers design with him and it is what made S&W target grips so sought after by collectors for many years to come. It was those grips that sparked a long line of target grips threr after at S&W. here is a shot of my model 25-2 wearing the Hard to locate Roepr custom grips. Regards, Hammerdown

Hello All
As Busy as I have been lately I have not had the time to even fire this model 25-2 I got unfired well over a month and a half ago. Yesterday was my Day to be Range Safety Officer at my Range so I left a few minutes early and took the model 25-2 along with a hand full of reloads. I loaded up some of that .45 Auto-Rim Brass I got at the last show, and it was a Pleasure not having to fool around with Moon clips. It extracted perfect. I used 5 Grains of Hodgens Tight Group with a 200 Grain Pointed lead bullet and standard Winchester Primer.This load showed much promise to me as I sighted in the 25 at the 20 Yard Line and I will increase it a tad bit on the next load to 5.5 grains to make it a Little cleaner and attempt to shrink the groups down a bit more. I had a Model 25-13 Mountain Gun with the tapered 4" Barrel and swapped that one for a Nice vintage model 29-2 in .44 Magnum. I did replace that one today though with this neat collectible I found at a small Gun show. This is a rare Revolver made exclusivly for Sworn in Tennessee State Troopers. They Only made 350 of them, and this one is number 347 of 350. It came to me in it's original Presentation case with Keys to lock the case. It is Unfired and was still in the factory grease when I cleaned it up this afternoon.I may or may not fire this one... Hammerdown

I only own 2 Smiths. An Airweight in 38 spl & my favorite, The Model 25 Mountain Gun in 45Colt! I've never been a wheelgun guy but a double action 45Colt is a great combo. ( I have since put a set of Ahrend roundbutt grips on it).

There is something about the wheel guns that brings back good memories. I carried several with the local law enforcement days. I carry Glock's now but I may go back to the old days.
