Well, when you kick up a rabbit(how ever you do it) that little sucker will give you 1 second to shoot. If you can spot them before they run then you've done well. Now I don't hunt with hounds and I'm not talking about that. That rabbit will run 100-500 yards. If you miss you can try to circle around and scare it up again. When you find a good place (thickets, brushpiles) just go walking through it for 10 steps then stop for 30 seconds. Rabbits are nervous recks when they know you are there and they think you have spoted them. Often they will just run out. It is a lot of fun to hunt them in the snow but we don't get that much in Arkansaw. Good luck!

I hope you dont get any snow in Arkansas, makes it too rough to get the 'shine out. As to rabbit hunting, you pretty well covered it,except to say check any little clump of grass, briar patch,or brush. sam.

Up here we hunt snowshoes on snowshoes. It's great when we get an early snow and they haven't changed color completely! Usually hunt through clearings and along railroad tracks. When the sun comes out they usually get up on some elevation to sun themselves.

Rabbits

fishingfool1991: Sir; welcome to the world of cotton tail RABBITS.
Sir; they'll stand right beside you, walk off, make out like they're going to run, run in a hole, get in a brier patch, bush up, run like crazy, stop and look at you.
And will move out if they feel danger. Wow. what a sport. All this without a dog.
Catching them setting is a sport unto itself. Just to watch them looking like they haven't been seen.

Don't tell the "BunnyWabbit" what you are up to.

I have walked up right next to a wabbit sitting tight about 2 feet from me. Then you walk in and they bolt before anyone is ready and it sounds like a vietnem fire fight....(rabbit gets away). They are tricky little b!@#$%^$#
