As for the threaded flash hider, I personally have an affection for the L1A1 flash hiders that are kind of like a long birdcage. At one point I was considering putting it onto my CETME after make sure all the threading was correct.

BTW, we have a separate G3/CETME forum, in addition to this FAL and, of course, the AR forum.

I own a CETME and love it. I've fired the M4 and it's a fun little gun, but I like having the .308 for that "battle rifle" cartridge. Haven't had the pleasure to shoot the FAL, but it looks like it weighs more than the CETME.

To me the cetme i own weighs more then the DSA fal Paratactical 16.25 inch barrell .

I weighed them both the cetme has more poundage !!!!

Well, I'll be darned... Now, what about the full-stock, full-length barrel model? That's what I was thinking would be heavier.

But I know what you mean by the CETME being heavy. CAI lists it as 9.7 lbs and when I put it down and picked up my AES-10 with the bipod and carry-handle removed it was like putting down a brick and picking up a pebble.
