| I recently bought an Austrian Steyr in 8x56r. My problem is, I can't seem to find ammo for it! I am considering reloading, also, but again, I haven't been able to find the cases or bullets. Can anyone help me out? And one last plea, once I find the ammo-or the reloading items I need- I still need to find a clip for the weapon, too. ![]() |

| Depends how much you want to spend you can get ww2 Nazi marked or brand new Hornaday (I bought Hornaday at Cabelas its called 8x56 Hungarian its not cheap but is reloadable) The surplus stuff is sold by many big gun importers (adds in Shotgun news quite often) cases can be obtained from Graf and others, Bullets too. Remember the bullets are an odd size .330 not .323 you will want some stripper clips,Old west Scronger and others have them for 2or3 bucks each. The Nazi stuff is in the clips but the ammo's corrosive. |

| thanks! Thanks for the feedback, I found some ammo listed in the SGN, but the vendor would only sell it with the purchase of a Steyr. I think I will go the reload route, I did find some brass for sale. Thanks again, I am looking forward to finally puting some rounds down range with this gun! |

| Add to my last post. If you cast or know someone who dose, that is the way to go. Lee make the reloading dies, bullet molds and bullet sizeing dies. |

| I don't own one, but I did see a bunch of ammo at my local Dunhamm's Sporting Goods, in Janesville, WI.. SOG was advertising that they had this ammo, but I'm not sure if it's still the case. Give them a shout..

| Military Rifle Collector ![]() | I bot the Nazi stuff a few years ago when no one wanted it. It comes on stripper clips. But it is corrosive so you do have to use some hot soapy water to clean the Steyr after shooting. Then clean again the regular way. Or however someone wants to do it. I dont think Sportsmans Guide has any left. Oh by the way we shoot this stuff all the time. The rifles have some kick to them but its not all that bad compared to some rifles I have. But this ammo just flies. We were shooting right through a 12 inch tree. They are fun Rifles. |
