Winchester 9417

I bought a Winchester model 9417 when Winchester came out with the .17 HMR. Little did I know that the Conn. plant would shut its doors shortly after I made my purchase. Now, I noticed that the 9417 has just about doubled in value. The model 94 levers are no longer being produced.
The 9417 was only produced for two years. I am glad I was able to get one when I did!
Now I hear that Marlin and Remington are merging / or have merged.
I wonder what effect it will have on those two companies?
Also.....
I wonder why Winchester would stop production of the famed lever action 94's? Just questions that have crossed my mind. ~JJ~

The 9417 is a great gun to have, and the price has definitely doubled. If I had one I would just leave it in it's original box. I don't think we have seen the last of the Winchester 94's. I don't know if you have heard that the introduction of the new Model 70 has been announced. They should be hitting the dealers about June.
I have not heard about Marlin & Remington merging.

I saw Winchester is bringing back the Model 70. I believe I was watching either Shooting USA or American Rifleman when I heard that. Maybe the model 94 isn't far behind.

Anyone know why they closed the doors to the Conn. plant to begin with?

Buy the way, I love the little .17HMR. Just wish they'd come down in price. Even half of what it is would make me happy...

I fired it the day I got it, before I found out it was going to be discontinued. But I did buy it to shoot it anyway. My son will get all my guns one day, so I might as well enjoy them now. Who knows if he will hold them for his kids. I told him he will get them under the condition he passes them down to his sons. But I wont be here to make sure (LOL). So for now I plan to put them guns through hell! I still have my first guns that my dad bought me. A mossberg bolt action target .22 & a Marlin 336C lever action deer rifle in .35 rem. Which I cherish because my Dad bought them for me about 35 years ago.
Getting back to the merge, I read in a gun magazine that a company bought out Remington and now just bought Marlin as well. I do not remember which magazine but it was a common gun mag. ~JJ~

From what I gathered, the Conn. Plant closed mostly due to Union issues. There are a lot of articles on the web about about the closing.
