Intersested in the Russian SKS differences/variations

Texnmidwest and I both purchased Russian SKS's from a shop this week. His is a dark and very nice solid wood and mine's a laminated.. I'm hoping he'll add a few more photos to this subject, but here's the things I'm interested in.

Besides the actual wood, I've seen some things that I find a bit odd. Both his and mine have bare metal bolts, but another buddy of mine has a Laminated Russian and his bolt is black.
Also, both my buddy's and Tex's bayonettes are silver, and mine's black anodized.
My rifle is all original, with all numbers matching and nothing forced..

Anyway, I'm hoping that members here with Russian SKS would pipe in and toss in a few photos of their rifles to show some of the other variations of these weapons??

My Tula has a chrome bolt and blued bayonet. If they have been refurbed, then it was at the mercy of whoever did it.
I have seen more Tulas with colored bayo, than others. Also, you have to take in to consideration that it may have been done here, after the fact?

How many letters and numbers are stamped on your receiver and what order are they in? Mine has no chinese markings whatsoever. All parts are milled with earlier russian teqniques and all ser. nos. match, except the one on the receiver. It reads 2J31XX and all the others are J31XX. It is probably a "cowboy companion" because it has 16.5 bbl. BTW it does have the triangle 26 Jianshe armory stamp and a scope base that Uberfaq calls a bzm. The origional stock is dark hardwood unlike chinese made models. All parts are milled and the bbl is a screw in type with the bayo lug neatly milled off. Its maybe a sino-soviet class?

greg- my best guess is you have a chinese built rifle that was built with some soviet parts. Maybe a transitional weapon before the chinese assumed full production?

I agree with SwedeSteve. I've seen a few of the Russians made in China with some odd features. This is probably the case.
