Ok, I am posting this as a question, has anyone heard of anyone getting recalled? I have been out of the army for 5 years, and now may be subject to recall. I never thought this was possable. If called apon to go, I will, but I must say I will not be real happy about it. Any body know the guiedelines for this?

my oldest bro. was recalled twice to vietnam. he went in during the korean war,and instead of getting discharged he was separated from the army. he finally got his discharge papers signed by ronald reagan.

I know of a couple of people who were recalled during Desert Storm and a few others that are still subject to recall. Just depends on your MOS.

Having said that, I know and have heard of no one post Korea who was recalled after being retired/separated for any length of time. It's one of those theoretically possible but very, very unlikely kind of things (unless you're a far more valuable individual than myself

I seem to recall a friend of mine being in the Navy for 4 years and then being on reserve for another 4 years where they could call him back at any time.

Shawn, I have heard or seen nothing on this. If I do, I'll pass it on to you.

Thanks guys. I have been doing some research, and this "backdoor draft" is a fact. But that said, I doubt they would want an overweight out of shape ex tank jokey.

generally speaking your term is for 8 years, with in that active duty say 4 years, then you have 4 years inactive ready reserve, then they can reacll you if they need your mos. they did it back in the late 80s just to see if the system worked, a lot of p offed guys, going to korea for 2 weeks,. |
