| Not to be a downer, but it makes me mad that these good people lost their lives for a war so many of us didn't see a need for and most of us don't want now. They could still be alive, contributing to our nation even now...making it better by their service and presence. Hacks me off... How dare the administration hide images of flag-draped caskets. I've been a mortician and funeral director, and that is, to me, one of the most disrespectful things you can do to the dead...pretend it didn't happen. Try to hide the reality of sacrifice from people. - Coeloptera ![]() "One owes respect to the living. To the dead, one owes only the truth." - Voltaire |

| Troll B' Gone ![]() ![]() | These men & women have made the ultimate sacrifice, they gave their LIFE defending this country, and all of it's inhabitants. They deserve to be honored with dignity, instead of just brushed aside as a statistic on the evening news. Each one of them deserves to have their story told.

| The Mayor ![]() | Feedom is not free. We have to fight every day to assure our freedom in this country. I would rather take the fight to them then to have IED's and bombs going off on American soil. I'd be over there too, if I wasn't so old. God bless each and every one of them. They are all heros in my book. |

| This type of thing was also done during the Viet Nam War. Life magazine posted a story about one week's fatalities incurred in Viet Nam. I believe the count was 258 that week. On the cover of that issue was a friend of mine I went to high school with. He was Sp-4 William Gearing from Rochester New York.He lived approx 6 doors down from us. That graduating class,(1966), suffered 4 KIA's alone. It also produced one Medal of Honor recpient..He is Gary Biekierk, a Special Forces medic. I had the pleasure of shaking his hand at an awards ceremony where he officiated with the opening prayer. I was recieving for my father the Medal of Merit for his service in combat during WW2, CBI area of operations. ![]() |

| Senior Member | yea not to take respect from the guys who make it home alive but it's just sad that after you have been killed thats it you are only a memeory in your families minds not the american publics mind. someone should put together a list with all the photos and a short saying from the family for each one of these guys . and when i say these guys i mean all of them what is it up to 3.5k now or higher and see that was another number. and we need to send that list around the internet like all the other emails that get sent each day.

| Now this is a great thread. Why isn't it stickied to the main page? Hmmmmmmmmm. lol Who dropped the ball on this one might I ask? Hmmmmmmmmmm. lol JK. Great idea and thread Tommy. Maybe now someone can, scratch that, WILL, sticky it to the main page, for all to see, leave a reply and remember to not forget. With that said. My heart and prayers go out to all who've served, not only now, but then, who've lost their life and or limb/s. To go into battle in and of itself deserves to be recognized and remembered, by all. We would not have what we do had it not been fought for. Had many not given their life in we would not have. I THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!! I THANK THE FAMILIES OF THOSE WHO'VE HAD TO ENDURE THE PAIN FROM THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE. I may not be perfect with the things I say. But in my heart, Not only I, but God knows the truth of how I feel. My thoughts and prayers will continue to go out for all. It isn't the war I care about, it's those fighting it!!! They're fighting for this country, the least I can do in return is say a prayer for them and remember and honor them, all of them.

| Senior Member | Tommy, I'm sorry, but I am unable to express how I feel. The respect I have for these fallen comrades is immense, the sense of loss is just too deep to fathom. They are in my heart, and my thoughts go out to them daily. Thank you for reminding all of us that the freedom we share is never free, but only survives by the blood of our loved ones. God bless those who scout the way for the rest of us!!
